Moving Image - (500)

Filming Project/ Moving Image (500)
This project was the only one out of the three where we would have to work as part of a group for the partical work. In the first seminar i was asigned a role in the group, this was camera operative with lots other roles, such as storyboard and the filming of the production. In the filming we filmed the piece three times for each location giving a variety of shots and angles with tracking and panning to give lots of footage for the editing of the final movie. I enjoyed having this position on the team, as i had done pervious movies and film productions giving me experience and knowledge of the equipment and shots. we where given a script to interpret into a movie. As a group we made a few modifications and twists to the plot. Making the script fit our storyline and end with our own additional scene. I thought of some interpretations and ideas for the script. I proposed a thriller similar to 'I am Legend' , with an award being giving for a vice to aid mankind and changing life as we know it, sadly not for the better ending in the destruction of the world and fall of the human race. With key flashbacks throughout the award ceromony showing the problem esculating, with a contrast between black and white and colour, showing the contrast between past and present.
In the production we had to do various equipment tests and checks. Also pre book the equipment before hand. We filmed the whole script once through in a number of locations. we filmed each set three times to get numerous shots and camera angles such as, point of view, close ups, long shots with tilts and tracking. This gave us a lot to work with in editing the final piece making our film have a varety of shots instead of being plain boring with a single shot for each scene. Once we had made the first cut we decided there was parts of the film we didnt like and weak points. so we chose to film a second variation of the first film giving two final movies at the end. In the second film we used different cast, locations and shots. I believe the second filming and final editing went a lot smoother and was a better piece overall due to the fact we learnt from our mistakes and developed on this to make a stronger piece that flowed well as a movie. I edited the second movie in my spare time to gain experince using the software and make it to how i felt it should look.
