Interactive Narrative (500 words)
Adobe flash was the software we would be using in this project. after reading the brief i had some unique ideas on how to approach it. I decided to begin the project by extending my knowledge of the software using tutorials and making notes at the seminars. This helped to refresh my memory and learn new methods. I wanted to create not just a quiz but something that would grab the attention of the audience and keep the particapant interested throughout playing the game. I mindmaped my intail ideas and plans, this helped inspire more ideas which i developed on. This lead onto me gathering some pirmary and secondary sources for the quiz whilst making a structure on flash. The intention was to ask 20 questions. I planned to have two video clips, one sound clip, motion and tweening to keep the viewer interested. I chose the topic of general knowledge for my quiz giving me a wide variety to work with when making the questions. After this i made some template slides for the background of each slides. I used photoshop to create these from scratch, inspired by popart and 80's style artists. This included bold shapes and primary colours structured so that thekey focus is the question in the foreground, almost leaping out, appealing to the particpant satraight away. Once i had created the quiz and got it working, i got a few canndidates to test it as a demo/trail to see if there was any glitches or parts that didnt work. From this i got some constructive critism which inspired ways to improve and develop the quiz. Other slight problems which where brought to attention was overlapping on a slide where part of the text was unreadable and a grammar mistake.
The part of the project i found most challenging and had to try a few attempts with numerous methods was getting video to function in the correct manner. Interactive media is the area i want to study next year as i found it a challenge as well as enjoyable, i would like to get a future carer in this area maybe something along the lines of web design.
